Assistant Controller

Law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek is looking for an assistant controller.

What is the job?
You are part of our Finance & Control department and, specifically, the Control sub-team, which consists of three assistant controllers and one financial controller. As an assistant controller, you work closely with all other departments in the organisation. Your responsibilities are varied, but include:

·         Providing overviews and financial reports to all interested parties in the organisation, including the managing committee and budget holders;
·         Preparing budgets and financial and non-financial management reports, including information analyses;
·         Discussing the management reports with various managers in the organization;
·         Continuously tracking the progress of financial processes;
·         Identifying oversights or errors and raising these at different levels in the organization;
·         Conducting the end-of-month process together with the control team colleagues;
·         Executing the internal control program for compliance with financial and tax arrangements;
·         Contacting tax and financial advisors with a view to preparing invoices, returns and filings;
·         Assisting external auditors in their audit work;
·         Ensuring continuity and accuracy of work if the financial controller is absent;
·         Effectively and correctly answering questions from colleagues;
·         Independently taking decisions on overviews, reports and questions.

Who are you?
Our perfect assistant controller:

·         has excellent communication and organisational skills;
·         has three to five years relevant working experience, preferably at a law firm or accountants firm;
·         has a bachelor’s degree in finance, preferably accountancy or business economics;
·         has an exceptional level of accuracy and attention to detail and can apply this to a fast-paced corporate environment;
·         has strong analytical skills when interpreting information;
·         sets goals and priorities effectively;
·         builds relationships with colleagues at all levels of seniority;
·         is a great team player;
·         has an excellent command of the English language;
·         has experience in advising, and is results-oriented and service-minded;
·         has a good understanding of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
