Internship Corporate Communications

Do you want to gain professional experience in the field of communications by working alongside a team of advisors at an international law firm? If you do, our corporate communications internship at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek may be exactly what you are looking for.

You will be involved in all aspects of our daily work, from drafting press releases and social content, thinking of the best communication approach, up until discussing visuals with our designers. Our team gives advice that impacts a broad range of stakeholders, whether it’s colleagues inside our firm or politicians, multinationals and regulatory authorities who look to De Brauw as a leading firm in the legal sector.

What will you be doing?

Our team is responsible for building and protecting the reputation of De Brauw, and assists colleagues in getting their message across clearly and effectively. As part of our team, you will help decide what to say and how best to package it, and give advice on the best way to reach the right audience.

No one day is ever the same. On any given day, you may interview a lawyer, who has just won a major case, or draft a campaign to promote an event for young parents in our firm – or check what was said on Twitter after a media appearance by one of our partners.

Our team of four advisors is the solid base you will operate from; this includes an assigned supervisor who is available to guide and advise you throughout the months you are working at De Brauw. You will work closely together with other internal branding specialists, such as our editors and designers, as well as external video experts, web builders and photographers, to create a wide range of content that reflects our high-end brand positioning.

What do we offer?

Our firm operates at the top of the legal sector and is made up of many driven and inspiring colleagues. Within the Business Development department, our Corporate Communications and Branding team is close-knit: it is constantly evolving, working hard to persistently push communications to the next level. Our team is relatively young and informal, and we make it a priority to make time for each other and help each other when needed. That means rolling up your sleeves and taking on responsibilities, and at the same time making sure to have fun in the meanwhile.

In return for your commitment and enthusiasm, you will get a taste of what it’s like to work at the internal communications department of a knowledge-heavy, client-oriented organisation. You will also have the room to figure out where your strengths and interests lie, establish a professional network within De Brauw, and eventually manage your own responsibilities.

Our ideal candidate:

·         is currently a student at the college or university level (WO/HBO);

·         is fluent in both Dutch and English (verbal and written);

·         is interested in media, social media and the latest trends;

·         would like to work in an informal setting within a corporate environment;

·         has a flexible “can do” attitude and is eager to learn;

·         enjoys, and has feeling for, writing and editing text; and

·         is available beginning September, or can start even sooner.

The internship includes:

·         a trainee allowance conforming to market scale

·         a travel allowance, depending on the commute;

·         a minimum workweek of 32 hours/week for 6 months; and

·         the possibility to write a thesis.

Who are we?

De Brauw stands besides its clients, wherever they operate globally. This is the keystone of our focus. Whether it is in the Netherlands or abroad, we deliver a powerful corporate practice, a centre of excellence in litigation, and an unparalleled team of regulatory experts.

Our role of trusted adviser is rooted in our history as a firm, and is integral to who we are today. From our home office in Amsterdam, we advise the majority of the largest companies headquartered in the Netherlands, such as Philips, Unilever and Shell. And we also stand beside our clients in their global transactions, litigation and regulatory enforcement. This is why we have offices in strategic locations and why we work closely together with top-tier local counsel in all jurisdictions.
